Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

  • SEP Camp is open to PCA and other likeminded churches. We prioritize churches with whom we have a history and work on a space available basis with Ridge Haven. Use our contact form and let us know you’re interested and we’ll explore the possibility.

In terms of campers, the SEP Middle School Conference is directed toward rising 6th through rising 9th graders. We also welcome church leaders bringing a limited number of hand selected senior high students who possess the maturity to serve as role models and tone setters in support of the goals of the church and camp.

  • The Ridge Haven Camp, Conference, and Retreat center hosts the SEP Camp Churches on an individual contract basis. Their current rate (subject to change) is $297/camper. SEP Camp charges an additional fee per camper to cover the multitude of administrative costs behind the scenes (administrative housing, music/worship leadership, A/V support, printing, supplies, etc). That cost ranges between $38 (early registration) & $53 (regular registration).

  • We are in constant conversation with partner churches about the possibility. Our desire is to facilitate a future conference for Confessionally Reformed churches which is accessible and not cost prohibitive. Finding a venue suitable for a large group (over 250) is difficult. We love Ridge Haven, but would like to make a distinctive experience for High Schoolers which doesn’t feel like the same thing for seven straight years.

  • SEP Camp is a ministry of Woodruff Road Presbyterian Church but only happens with the partnership of participating churches. We exist to serve churches by offering camp programming and especially preaching and teaching which is consistent with our Confessional Standards in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. That means an emphasis on ordinary means of grace ministry appropriate to the camp setting (word & prayer, but not sacraments) and encouraging ordinary discipleship. Our ministry is covenantally minded in that we preach the free offer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and stress the right response of worship and obedience to the moral law.

  • SEP Camp serves to support the local church’s endeavor to experience camp together. The goal with leaders is to be able to handle a specific attention-demanding situation for an individual student (first aid, discipline, etc.) and allow the other students to continue on schedule with their camp experience.

To support this, we require a minimum of one adult per gender group up to eight students and highly recommend an additional adult for nine or more of each gender. E.g., 1 male for 8 male students, 2 male leaders if you have 9+ male students, 3 male leaders if you have 17+ males.

We welcome the presence of junior counselors or “tone-setters” from your church as additional registered campers. These should be mature students closer to high school graduation with camp experience. They’re great for moving younger students between locations when adults may be tied up or for going first when younger students need an example. With discernment, these can be factored into the above ratios.

If your situation is more complicated, please speak to a camp administrator.
